The Leaf stands up to its rivals in many ways. Performance has been hiked up to 147 horsepower, and torque rate is 236 lb-ft. It can go 150 miles on a single charge, almost double its previous capability. In the future, a new battery pack could upgrade that to 225 miles.

Only Nissan can offer ProPilot, a self-driving system. It goes beyond Adaptive Cruise Control, which is also offered. The system uses radar and a monocular video camera to watch the lanes and the leader traffic.
