One of Nissan’s newest subcompact crossover SUVs is the Nissan Kicks. The Kicks debuted in 2016 and was made to replace the Nissan Juke in the United States. There are two different versions of the Kicks, one being American and the other being Chinese. However, today, we are going to focus on the US version. Let’s take a closer look at what the Kicks features and why it is a good fit for you.
Powertrain
The Nissan Kicks is equipped with the HR16DE 1.6L inline 4 cylinder engine from Nissan that is commonly found in the Nissan Versa. It provides the Kicks with a respectable 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. This is more than enough to give you some get up and go in this small SUV while providing you with an estimated 31 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway. For US cars, you will only get one transmission option, Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT which makes for an easy and pleasant driving experience.
Safety
The Nissan Kicks is loaded with many different safety features to ensure that you are kept safe on the road. These features include Nissan’s advanced air bag system, seat mounted side impact airbags in the front, roof mounted curtain side impact airbags, driver supplemental knee airbag, vehicle dynamic control with traction control system, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, LATCH system, energy absorbing steering column, hood buckling creases, side door guard beams, and a tire pressure monitoring system. These components work together to ensure that you and your passengers are safe at all times.
S
The base model Nissan kick is going to feature the S trim level which is equipped with all of your basic Kicks features that will either be seen or upgraded on each trim level above the S. For this trim level, the key features are going to be a 7.0” touch-screen color display, Siri Eyes Free, a RearView Monitor, and an Automatic Emergency Braking with Forward Collision Warning System.
SV
The next step up is going to feature a little more comfort creatures to appeal to the consumer who wants a little more bang for their buck. While it includes many of the same features as the S trim level, you are going to get a few upgrades along the way. These include 17” aluminum alloy wheels, a 7.0” Advanced Drive-Assist display, Apply Car Play/Android Auto, Nissan Intelligent Key, and Blind Spot Warning.
SR
For those looking to get the most features, the fully loaded Nissan Kicks SR trim level is going to be the option that you want. Similar to the SV, it will include all of the same great features, but have a new set of unique upgrades as well. It will inlcude LED headlights with LED signature accents, fog lights, a rear roof spoiler, sport cloth seat trim with orange accents and stiching, and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob for added appearance appeal.
